x 3/4" high. Leveling pads and floor anchors shall be on minimum 9"
centers on both sides of rail along the entire length of each rail with steel
shims to level at each floor anchor. Each pad shall be anchored with two lag
bolts set into floor anchors. There shall be a minimum of two guide rails per
system. Rails to be leveled by surveyors transit or laser.
2.2 Plywood (particle board not acceptable) will be utilized between rails
to 1/8" below rail surface for tile or 1/4" for carpet. Final floor
to be flush - no gaps at side of rail, which could pose a tripping hazard.
2.3 Provide Steel Ramp Plate at front of system. Ramp shall not extend
beyond front of end panel.
2.4 Wheels shall be precision steel and rest on sealed self-lubricating
pillow blocks on both sides of the wheel assuring smooth operation. At least
two wheel frames on each base shall have center guide to fit precisely into
guide rail. All wheels must be a minimum of 5" in diameter. Wheels shall
be precision ground and have a Brinnel hardness of 207/285. Wheel frames shall
be welded from 10-gauge steel.
2.5 Drive shafts shall be solid steel. A drive wheel shall be located
at every rail. Systems without a drive wheel at every rail will not be
considered.
2.6 Carriage section "C" shape 11 ga. minimum 1000 lbs per foot
rating.
2.7 Shelving uprights must be precision recessed 5" into carriages and
side bolted with 1/4" nut, bolt and lock washer to eliminate
"sheer". Surface mounting of uprights is not acceptable nor is the
use of sheet metal (Tec) screws.
2.8 All levels of all double face ranges will be composed of two shelves
allowing Independent adjustability on both faces of all levels without tools.
Straight through shelves not acceptable. Shelves on all ranges will have 18
Ga. steel side fillers (supports) that will prevent media from becoming
trapped or hidden behind the front upright.
2.9 All ranges must provide canopy tops that are bolted to uprights to
achieve a one-piece monolithic structure to avoid racking and tipping.
2.10 Total system will operate from a single 120-volt power source. Power
to be transferred by overhead cables in scissor arms from source to moving
units. Units that are individually connected by flex cables to individual
outlets are not acceptable.
2.11 All electronics are to be located in a locked compartment in the front
panel. Electronic located on top of shelving or in carriage base are not
acceptable.
2.12 System to have three (3) safety systems:

on both sides of the aisles are automatically "locked"
by the reset switch. The aisle will not close, even if another control
switch is depressed. The user is never in danger.
B. Secondary. Lower safety bar (sweep) to be located on carriage
1/4" above floor. Any momentary contact with this bar will stop
movement of range in less than" I " of travel.
C. Tertiary. All movable ranges must have a
"stop" switch. Activating any stop switch will terminate all
shelving movement immediately.
2.13 All movable units will have the ability to be moved manually in the
event of a power failure.
2.14 Momentary contact with "open" switch will cause any or all
ranges to move sequentially to create an aisle. Once the aisle has opened
completely, the primary safety is automatically engaged; preventing any
further movement while aisle is occupied.
2.15 All overhead wiring will be enclosed in conduit and will be placed
within metal raceways in front panels. Metal scissor arms will transfer power
between ranges.
2.16 All electrical controls, wiring, and switches shall be a minimum of2
